Early fall examen & working with quiet people

At The Well This Week

“In my own life, I’m reminded time and again of the power of this practice of paying attention, of noticing where God is at work, what is happening in the world around you, and what is happening in one’s inner world.”

I share three things that are giving me life this fall. What’s keeping you going right now? I’d love to hear — you can share by clicking this “leave a comment” button.

Advice for Loud People on Working with Quiet People is a favorite of ours. It is thoughtful and super practical for anyone who works in a group.

“My primary recommendation is to respect and get to know individuals instead of making assumptions about them. People are quiet for many different reasons: personality, culture, past experience, and current environment. And everyone is on a spectrum of extroverted to introverted and behaves differently in different situations.”

Three More Things We Loved This Week

  1. In the aftermath of a major hurricane: A Blessing in the Storm

3. A wise word from Sarah Bessey: “One of the damaging things ‘prophetic’ charismatic culture did was to set God apart from our ordinary lives as particular experiences, by invitation or appointment only.”
